swearing

I don't really have a problem with swearing, its really become part of my everyday language!! Until i was about 16 and in 6th form i never used to swear, i didn't feel the need and the only one who could swear at home was my mum, but these days i swear all the time!! i think swearing has become more common in the use as language as many swear words have become slang words, not meant to cause offence or embarrassment. I think that the context in which swearing is used determines whether or not it is intended to cause offence or is being used in jest. I agree that at times swearing is inappropriate, for example at a funeral, but at the same time one can claim it is ones freedom of speech!! Unless an individuals intent is to cause unwarranted offence, swearing is fine... it jazzes up the English language as slang does and brakes the taboo barrier surrounding it.
